Only until you have had to move a pallet from one side of your premise to the other using a forklift do you really understand the benefit and saving that can be achieved using pallet conveyors.

The invention of the pallet came in the early 20th century. Evolved from boxes, creates and barrels the pallet provided a much quicker turnaround to loading and unloading ships. It also increases the loading speed when taking the goods from the ports and placing them on Lorries. This efficiency carried on once the lorry had reached it distribution depot.

Within the distribution depots using pallets allowed for easy storage.

Why Pallet Conveyors

As factory’s and distribution depots got bigger there was a need to improve how these pallets were transported round the premise. With increasing labour costs and pallets being able to carry heavier loads using members of staff became out of the question.

Pallet conveyors are often used in many factories as the assembly line. Pallet conveyors, come in four different types - belt conveyor, roller conveyor, the chain conveyor and the cam driven. Each type of pallet conveyor has the ability to move heavier loads.

Power conveyors don’t wear out like belt conveyors and need a lot less maintaining. Each section has its own motor powered inside. This gives you more power than a chain driven system and it also gives you the option of having different sections running at different speeds. They can even be set to stop altogether.

Much of the time, depots use a combination of conveyors choosing the best conveyor suited to the process. Some are used to transport the pallets up or down. Other sections are used to turn the pallets around.
